HIMAYAT- Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana
Launched in November 2016, HIMAYAT is a placement-linked market-driven skill training programme by the Ministry of Rural Development for the unemployed youth of Jammu and Kashmir, as a part of its flagship Deen Dayal Upadhyaya-Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY). The scheme is being implemented by the Jammu & Kashmir Entrepreneurship Development Institute (JKEDI) with Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDI) Ahmedabad, as a coordinating /monitoring agency. The scheme aims at providing entrepreneurial skills for sustainable livelihood to 30,000 youth of J&K and facilitating access to finance and support services to at least 50% of them over a period of four Years. The project aims to generate sustainable livelihood opportunities through self-employment for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir by the crosscutting approaches of holistic entrepreneurship development programs. The candidate's education qualification should be 8th or above, within the age group of 18-35 years, and must be a permanent resident of the state of J&K. The upper age limit for women candidates, and candidates belonging to PVTGs, PwDs, Transgender and other special groups, etc shall be 45 years.
The salient features of the Himayat Programme are:
- The programme covers both urban and rural populations irrespective of levels of poverty.
- Training includes both Residential and Non-Residential.
- The duration of training courses is 3 to12 months (576 to 2304 hours).
- Youth are provided skill training in various trades commensurate with levels of education.
- The training is provided in various sectors- Healthcare, Banking and Finance, Retail, Hospitality, IT, Automobile, Apparel, Security, Beauty & Wellness, etc.
- The training includes computer-oriented skills, soft skills, and English communication skills, as well as the technical skills needed for the particular job.

Program Benefits
- All trainees will receive training free of cost. The minimum duration of training is 3 months, of which IT training will be for 60 hours.
- Residential facilities will be provided to trainees. If residential facilities are not provided, Rs 50 for every day attended will be credited to the bank account of the trainee by the PIA every 15 days.
- Trainees who complete 3 months of training and work will receive Post placement support @ Rs. 2000 for 6 months (i.e., 12,000/-) after placement. Youth who complete 6-month / 9-month training and subsequently get placed with a minimum start-up salary of Rs.8000/
- Rs.12000 will get post placement support @ Rs.1000/- for 2 months (i.e., 2000/-) after placement.
- A bank account will be opened for all trainees in the first month of training.
- All trainees will get a Himayat ID card at the start of training.
- All trainees will get a Training Completion Certificate on completion of training.
- All trainees will receive training material free of cost including workbooks, notebooks, and other study material.

Eligibility
- The applicant should have passed Class 8th.
- The age of the applicant should be between 18 and 35 years.

- The applicant should be a permanent resident of the state of Jammu & Kashmir.

- The mandatory fields are Candidate Name, Father or Guardian Name, Gender, Date of Birth, District, Block, Permanent Address, and email ID).
- The non-mandatory fields are Aadhar Number, Ration Card Number, Educational Qualification, and Interested Courses.
- Select the course(s) you are interested in.
- Finally, click the "Submit" icon to submit your application.

- Attested a photocopy of ID proof.
- Attested photocopy of District Employment & Counselling Centre registration card.
